"Since 1553 we, the Weltner family, have been growing wine. The winery has been based in Rödelsee for four generations. In 2005, I took over the family business from my father, Wolfgang.
Our vineyards are located at the highest elevation of Main Franconia, the Schwanberg. Approximately in the middle of the two cities Nuremberg and Frankfurt.
We produce wines on deep, rich soils. The name of the special soil formation is called „Gipskeuper“, an extraordinary mineral mix of clay marl and anhydrides with limestone. This ist particularly suitable for the grape varieties Sylvaner, Riesling and Scheurebe.
We produce very mineral, dry wines which are very storable by a great liveliness. They are, by their dry kind, an excellent food companion. In youthful form very good with appetizers and matured also suitable for stronger main courses. The Sylvaner, for example, accompanies very well the modern vegetable kitchen. The Sylvaner lives by the inner densitiy, structure and its distinctive herbal spice.
In addition we also grow the classic German grape variety Riesling, which lives by its fruit and a harmonious acidity. " Paul
